 Zoom has announced that the Live Transcription feature is now available to all free Zoom Meetings account holders. This feature, which provides automatic captions during Zoom video calls, was previously only available for Zoom Meetings accounts and Zoom Video Webinars accounts.



However, at present it only supports the English language. Zoom has confirmed that it has plans to extend this feature to other languages. The company noted that Zoom also supports hand-made captions and integration with third-party caption services.

If you are a single user within a multi-accounts, you should ask your account administrator to enable this web-based functionality for all users. Participants can also privately request the meeting host to enable live recording during the session using the conference toolbar.

Zoom also adds a few accessibility features across the platform. These include keyboard access, pin or video interpreter highlighting, screen reader support, and voicemail recording.

Zoom users also get the ability to resize gallery views. One will also find the option to adjust the chat size and other accessibility features including text formatting, black mode, focus mode, and more. Zoom also adds power to mute or mute participants with their permission. This option is for the host.

If you want to enable closed captions for personal use, you can follow the steps below. You will find the option of closed captions under the Meetings tab in the Account Management settings.

Zoom: How to enable or disable the Live Transcription feature

Step 1: First you need to sign in to the Zoom web portal.

Step 2: Now, click on Settings, which is in the navigation menu.

Step 3: After that, you will have to click on the Meeting tab.

Step 4: Under In Meeting (Advanced), just click the Closed captioning toggle to enable or disable it.

Note: The company says that when the confirmation box is displayed, you can click on Enable or Disable to confirm the change. If the option turns gray, it means the feature is locked in a group or account level. Therefore, users will need to contact their Zoom Administrator.
