Intel has officially announced its 12th-gen Alder Lake processors, as it aims to compete with AMD and Apple in the chip segment.

First, the company will first bring Alder Lake desktop processors to market. The Alder Lake mobile variant, that will be designed for laptops, is not expected to arrive till early 2022. An announcement of new processors was made during the Intel Innovation event.

Alder Lake processors are very different from last year's 11th gen processors. They are the first processors to use the new Intel hybrid architecture, which means you will need a new Z690 motherboard to upgrade. The Alder Lake list consists of six processors that use a combination of Golden Cove's high performing cores (P-cores) and Gracemont power-saving cores (E-cores), the way Apple has taken over the M1 chip. All new processors are set to arrive on 4th November.

Intel says the Alder Lake processors are incredibly fast as they are 20 percent faster than Rocket Lake. According to Intel Alder Lake gives higher performance compared to AMD's 5950X processor. The most powerful chip on the list is the i9-12900K, it is listed as "the world's best game processor." The i9 comes with 16 cores and 24 threads, and the i7 model comes with 12 cores and 20 threads. Intel Alder Lake will support DDR5 RAM for desktop PCs and LPDDR5 laptops.

Intel’s all new Alder Lake desktop processors:

1. Core i9-12900K: 16 cores/24 threads (8 performance cores at 3.2GHz (base)/5.2GHz (turbo), 8                  efficiency cores at 2.4GHz (base)/3.9GHz (turbo))

2. Core i7-12700K: 12 cores/20 threads (8 performance cores at 3.6GHz/5.0GHz, 4 efficiency cores at            2.7GHz/3.8GHz)

3. Core i5-12600K: 10 cores/16 threads (6 performance cores at 3.7GHz/4.9GHz, 4 efficiency cores at            2.8GHz/3.6GHz)

The pricing are higher than the previous generation. Prices ranges from $264 to $589.
